Where are the fleets of the new events? Nothing happened since the update, is that actually intended?

For me they appeared when i opened up a new sector for exploring.So far i have seen or heard of 8742 when unlocking a new sector. Perhaps NGames will comment on this issue and clarify the event

I came across some 8742 today. Perhaps it just took them this long to find our system and start invading.
