Since they said there will be around 35 characters you can recruit to be on your team, who do you guys think will be in it, besides the ones we already know are going to be there (From the screenshots shown.)

Based on the color of their background it is their grade/rank. Whether or not they can get up to A/S rank who knows.
Grade colors are Green>Blue>Purple>Yellow
D>C>B>A or C>B>A>S
Potential... no clue, it could mean the rank they could go up to (Don't think so) or their growth rate (seems more likely). So higher potential means a higher growth for base stats (I'm just assuming that)

Below are the partners I found, and what rank they were when I found them. Whether or not they start out at that rank/grade is beyond me though. Just assume that all if not most of the partners you recruit can make it up to at least A rank or higher.

(Notice: I made this based on the GMG (Grand Magic Games) since that is what the background of some of the fighting scenes take place that we have seen so far. However there could be more out there.)

None of these are 100% confirmed, but just what I found in SS and videos.

I think that most anyone from fairy tail will go up to yellow with the rank-up system, most likely, all the dragon slayers will go up to yellow, not to say the 3 mc's aside from natsu gray, erza, lucy, elfman will go up to only purple i think, and mirajane will probably go up to yellow too, makarov will probably start as yellow the same goes for gildarts and the likes of mavis, jose, jura, hades and those, it's all in the rank up so you should get blue characters if they're A potential or S potential because that means you can evolve them a lot regarding of their starting rank

Knowing how these browser games tend to go however, its almost a sure bet that there'll be a higher tier above yellow (usually red) which will most likely be the final stopping point for the likes of Gildarts, Makarov, certain villain characters (like Zeref), and later versions of the main characters like King Fire Dragon Mode Natsu or Ice-Devil Slayer Gray.

This all goes on the assumption that characters get capped on how far they can be pushed quality wise of course. For all we know even the lowest green quality characters could be pushed all the way to yellow/red with enough time and effort put into them, which wouldn't be such a bad idea as that could encourage more character diversity if everyone can eventually reach the upper tiers since not everybody will just funnel into the same set of characters because they are "the best".

Yeah i agree with all that you said, depending on how hard to rank up the characters is, if we're free players we should get every green or blue character if he has A or S potential(if we like them of course) because that'll make the game a lot easier for us, it'd for sure be kinda a hard path to walk but, in the end we would end with OP characters wasting the less resources possible xD, i too think that the likes of makarov and gildarts will go to red tier, but so will all the dragon slayers i think xD as in the end(a lil spoiler alert) the dragon slayers are the fucking strongest characters in the whole series(everyone of them 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation) they're like the final fantasy protagonists against the final boss of the game xD or like a whole team of dragoons against leviathan xD, so i think that a sure bond team will be natsu, laxus, gajeel, wendy(im assuming you'll only get to have 4 partners in battle) this is the team im aiming to build when the game is fully launched, for demon slayers lovers xD im sure there'll be a gray, silver, lyon, ur team xD that'll also be comforting as hell to have xD, for god slayers though there'll not be a full team as there are only 3, zankrow, chelia, and orga, of course rogue and sting will be bonded but you'll have to seek for another tank and support that're bonded between them, while with the FT teams you have everything on it while FT have a full bond on various teams haha, like for example gajeel is tank, natsu and laxus are assaulters, and wendy is support, another one is erza is tank, natsu and gray are assaulters, and lucy is support, you see? those are your 2 best teams to go for.

Don't worry about spoilers with me xD I'm all caught up on the manga and know full well how crazy powerful the Dragon Slayers are in the final act. But yeah that'll definitely be the most important thing to do for f2p and even low spenders, get your main team figured and pump them up to the highest possible level, stars, and rank you can push them. That'll be the easiest road to power, along with maybe one or two decently worked on back up characters assuming we'll have the kind of boss/monster rush events that instant kill you after a set number of turns where a tank doesn't matter as much as having maximum damage output. In fact a good idea for a kind of big raid boss fight daily event for farming up silver and xp would be duking it out with Acnologia in his dragon form.

That being said I'm pretty sure the most popular dream teams are gonna be all the different Slayer wizard combinations you'll be able to put out. Especially once some of them get their alternative forms (I.E the dual-element forms, king dragons, whatever movie variants might exist.)

well that's easy, you put in heroes with fury recovery abilities, and attack boosting ones, with two of those you should be allright not to say natsu will be an obligation to have against the boss as he's all about attacking and attack buffs, i think gray will be the one to have the fury recovery abilities, i think that lucy will be the one to have on support, and on tank you should put a hero with a nice ability to your team that's able to instant cast the magic on round one so when the boss kill him you'll already have his buffs on your whole team, in db online though, i had yamcha, nappa and nail which did this, nappa ended with a 30% attack boost and my main and yamcha with a 10% boost, nail recovered 25 fury points to my whole team and 100 points for himself, and the tanks didn't do much because they didn't have nice abilities against the boss, and you know what? it's kinda funny xD as the legendary heroes had twice the stats of the tavern heroes xD, when i placed turtle hermit roshi and piccolo for assaulters, and trunks for support, i did twice the damage i did with the heroes that should be ''nice'' for the boss event xD
